Menavali Ghat Wai has become famous for the superhit films like Swades, Mangal Pandey, Gangajal, Omkara, Bol Bachchan and Dabangg has been shot here.
Famous for its different ghats at Krishna River, Ganapati Aali Ghat and Menavali Ghat at Wai is important not only for the very famous Dholya Ganapati temple and The Big Bell, there are multiple Bollywood Hindi Movies has been shot here. For the serenity and scenic beauty Wai offers, it has attracted my Hindi and Marathi Film Makers, and the ultimate destination was Menavali Ghat Wai.
Approximately 90 km from Pune under Satara District, Wai is located on Krishna River is well known for its temples. Having more than 100 Temples, it’s also known as “Dakshin Kashi” (City of Temples). All the Temples have been built with Hemadpanthi style of architecture where big slabs of Black Stone and Lime has been used without any mortar.
Wai and Menavali Ghat become famous with Bollywood Fraternity when most part of the Ashutosh Gowariker’s Movie Swades got filmed here. Wai becomes Charanpur of Swades and Menavali Ghat having multiple raised platforms below big Trees becomes the place where Village Panchayat used to hold their meetings. The famous song “Saanwariya Saanwariya” from the film was shot at Menavali Ghat itself.
After Swades it was Aamir Khan’s Ketan Mehta Directed Mangal Pandey: The Rising. The film starts from Menavali Ghat itself giving a perfect start to the period drama.
After that there are list of Hit Movies which has been shot at different location of Wai and at Menavali Ghat Wai. Prakash Jha’s Gangajal and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara was shot at different locations in Wai.
Rohit Shetty’s comedy Bol Bachchan was also shot at Menavali Ghat, the complete rehersal of Golmaal Drama with Abhishek Bachchan, Asin and Krushna Abhishek was shot at Menavali Ghat Wai only.
We talked about Shah Rukh Khan’s Swades, Aamir Khan’s Mangal Pandey, now it’s time for the third Khan, Salman Khan. Salman Khan’s Dabangg has also been shot at different locations in Wai and the Super Hit Song “Hud Hud Dabangg” from the film was shot at Menavali Ghat Wai.
